The Summa DC Series
The Summa DC-Series delivers customer ready prints with no need to laminate. One single machine will deliver durable full colour and accurate contour cut graphics. Images are printed and cut automatically, you simply have to weed and apply.
The built-in-ribbon-changer holds SmartRibbon™ cassettes. Each cassette can accommodate any ribbon colour, and the printer intelligently identifies the ribbon colour, location and usage. The ribbons consist of durable resin, which is both water- and UV resistant.
Summa's FlexCut feature makes it possible to cut squares out of the media. Alternating, one length is cut completely through vinyl and backing, and one length is cut half through the backing. This way a kind of tear-off line is created which makes sure the media keeps a certain rigidity to be transported through the machine while it is easy to take out the image afterwards.
Thermal Transfer Printing
Versatility
In addition to contour-cut labels or vivid vehicle stickers, a Summa DC-Series system with Summa’s ColorControl RIP tiles large format prints for giant-sized signs, banners and vehicle wraps in easyto- handle panels. Plus their autochanging resin ribbon changer can combine process, spot colour and metallic foil printing for high-profit effect graphics that only thermal transfer printing will provide. The DC-Series very sharp dots (up to 600 dpi) make it possible to print characters smaller than one millimeter!
Outdoor durability
Prints are ready to go as they are instant dry and do not require lamination*. Resin ribbon printing with process and spotcolours may last outdoor for up to 5 years.
Eco-friendly, odour and maintenance free!
Thermal transfer is currently the most environmental friendly printing method on the market. There is no wash up of clogged printheads, no chemical waste, no noxious solvent fumes or health risks to worry about.
Wide range of spotcolours
In addition to the 4 process colours, the DC-Series offer a wide range of spot colours (18), plus white and glossy metallic gold and silver. The use of spot colours has multiple advantages. One spot colour can replace two process colours and as such not only reduces the ribbon cost but significantly increases productivity as well. The use of spot colours also avoids rasterizing and gives nice plain colours. By using white ribbon as a ‘primer’layer, printing on coloured vinyl is easy and affordable.
Exceptional Ease-of-Use
Every aspect of the Summa DCSeries has been designed for simplified operation. Media loading is child’s play, thanks to auto media alignment. Ribbons are a snap to refill, and can’t be loaded improperly. Summa ColorControl™* offers intelligent contour cutting, spot color printing and an array of powerfull RIP printing tools. The DC-Series printing technology eases your prints on demand. Just switch on the machine and get started.
As thermal transfer output dries instantaneously, it is easy to print different colours on top of each other. The DC-Series ColorMask feature applies this technique to print on coloured media. And through a derived technique, Vision Print, the DC-Series window graphic feature, produces vivid one way see-through-graphics on regular clear vinyl.
Thermal Transfer Printing
Thermal Transfer technology is a dry transfer printing process that uses heat and pressure to create a durable bond between the resinbased pigments and the media. The resins, containing densely packed pigments, are supplied on ribbons. This pigment density results in images that are highly abrasion resistant compared to liquid-based inks, and it provides a long term UV and water resistance with an outdoor durability up to 5 yearswithout lamination. *Summa ColorControl is optional on DC4sx.
